History of the Daniel Oduber International Airport
Named in honor of the former president of Costa Rica, Daniel Oduber, whose idea it was to build an airport in the region and who was an avid supporter of expansion and development in Guanacaste, this international airport was opened in 1995, with its first commercial flight arriving here from Miami, Florida.

Built on the Llano Grande plains, some 8 miles west of the city of Liberia, the Daniel Oduber International Airport is a full service airport with paramedical services, technical services, fueling services, a fire department and luggage handling services. Besides the usual airport facilities, there is a bank, restrooms, medical assistance, a snack bar and a restaurant on the airport premises as well.

By arriving at the Liberia Airport, you can catch a short domestic flight to the airstrips of Samara, Tamarindo or Punta Islita, or you can visit the nearby parks: Santa Rosa National Park and Guanacaste National Park.
